What Is The Difference Between Regular Nutrisystem Or Nutrisystem Diabetic? (Called D)

By: Ava Alderman: I sometimes hear from people who are confused about which nutrisystem package to chose. Some want to know the difference between the regular nutrisystem plan and the plan that is called Nutrisystem D which is designed for diabetics. I heard from someone who said “my doctor says that I am pre diabetic. So I’m not sure which package to chose. What is the difference between the regular basic nutrisystem and the D? Are the foods the same? Do you get the same number of meals? Does one cost more than the other? Do you have to cut out sweets on the D plan?” I will try to answer these questions in the following article.

Nutrisystem D is a program designed for people who concerned about their blood sugar or about diabetes. So, the company fills the package with foods that are glycemic friendly, which means that the foods are low in sugars and carbs and high in proteins and fiber.  Now, the basic package and the D package share many of the same foods.  In fact, there are many sweet or dessert type options on the D plan. But, the difference is that the D program is set up to contain no more than 80 grams of sugar per day with at least 30 grams of fiber.  Honestly, it’s my experience that you don’t taste the difference.  And, this diabetic program has been studied in clinical studies and the results have been quite favorable. For example, participants on the D program lost up to 16 times more weight (and 14 times more off their waist line) than those who were not on the program.

You eat the same number of meals on the diabetic program (five times per day.) You still eat three regular meals with a dessert and snack. And you still add in “safe” or glycemic friendly sides that you choose or make yourself. People often assume that the diabetic menu doesn’t offer sweets like the others. This just isn’t the case. I’ve included a list of the meals included with nutrisystem D’s favorites menu below. You will see that you have tons of sweet items like a cinnamon bun, blueberry muffin, chocolate chip scone, chocolate cake, and a variety of cookies and other desserts. People often ask me how this can be. The answer is that the company modifies the foods. Plus, the D program costs the same as any of the other programs. There is no premium or higher price placed on it.  To see the latest specials on nutrisystem D, see the right side of this blog or check here. Nutrisystem.com
