Can You Really Lose Weight On Nutrisystem Flex?

Admittedly, there’s a lot to like about the nutrisystem flex plan. It’s cheaper than the other plans. And you get to take weekends (or any two days) off and eat your own foods on your “off” days.  Many people look at all of the pros about the nutrisystem flex program and wonder if there are some cons too. And of course, the most prevalent questions on everyone’s mind would be: is it effective? Or does it work to help you lose weight?

I heard from someone who said “the nutrisystem flex plan is so tempting. I could enjoy the weekends with my family and then I could be good at work during the week. Plus, it’s not as expensive as some of the other plans. But is there a catch? Does it really work? Do people really lose weight taking two days off? It almost seems too good to be true. ” I will try to answer these questions in the following article.

People Do Lose Weight On Nutrisystem Flex, But They Mostly  Comply With The Guidelines: First of all, it’s important to understand that this diet works in a couple of ways. The prepackaged foods that they give you are lower in calories. And they are modified to be glycemic friendly. So without having to do a lot of work, you’re taking in less calories as well as more protein and fiber with less carbs. Ideally, people take in around 1200 calories per day. This is quite a difference when you consider that the average American takes in 4,000 calories per day.  So you have both the calorie deficit and the higher protein working for you. But what happens when you interrupt this process by taking two days off?

Well, understand that when they say two days off, they don’t mean two days of eating anything and everything that you want. People envision this as if they are going to go on a junk food binge or eat like there is no tomorrow. If you did that, you would be right back up to your normal caloric intake, or perhaps even more because you’d be making up for lost time.

That’s not the way the diet is designed. They do allow you to eat your own foods on your off days. But there are guidelines that you need to follow. Although you will get to chose your own foods and many people do eat out at restaurants on their off days, you do need to be mindful of what you are choosing. You can’t fried junk foods all day and think that this is going to be in line with your weight loss goals.

With that said, even if you go overboard a little bit on the days you take off, there’s a very good chance you are still taking in far fewer calories per week than what is usual for you. I know people on this plan and they have had good success. But they also find that they don’t overeat as much as they thought they might on the weekends. The reason is that they have worked so hard for the five prior days that they don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that hard work by going crazy and over eating. So they make compromises and find something that will make them happy and keep them within compliance.  And it’s my experience and opinion that you are able to do this, you really should be able to lose a decent amount of weight on nutrisystem flex.  But if you don’t follow the guidelines your results might reflect this.
